Zero Balancing is a bodymind therapy that uses gentle joint mobilization, traction and bony compression to resolve tension in the musculo-skeletal system.

As structure and energy align, the bodymind integrates. As a result, people often experience expanded states of consciousness leading some to describe ZB as a supported meditation. Profound physical relief and feelings of peace, ease, clarity and groundedness are commonly experienced.

‘Fritz’ Smith is the founder of ZB. The practice was born from the principles of Taoist Meditation, Osteopathy, Acupressure, Qi Gong, Quantum Physics and the Chakra System.

Before ZB

After ZB!

Rather than being overly concentrated in their mind (mentally stressed), this person experiences a sense of balanced orientation and support from all their layers after ZB.

Why tend to my energy and structure?

Because you want to feel better! In today’s high pressure environment, ZB helps regulate the sympathetic nervous system, bolstering your energetic reservoir and restoring your body’s innate capacity for healing. Research shows a 30 minute ZB can reduce your stress level by 60%!

ZB is an effective complement to physical therapy. It addresses imbalances in the foundation joints and ligaments which organize and direct the flow of forces, like gravity, through our skeletons.

ZB is also beneficial in conjunction with psychotherapy. Sessions can take on the purpose of personal ritual; becoming an intentional, embodied practice for the exploration and integration of psycho-emotional material and processing trauma.

People seek ZB for various reasons. My clients’ concerns generally fall into three main categories.

1. BODY: Physical concerns including pain relief, stress reduction, balancing sympathetic/parasympathetic nervous system activity and health/energy maintenance through preventive, holistic care*. Issues that have come across my ZB table include sciatica, chronic back and hip pain, sacro-iliac or gait dysfunction, aching/glitchy joints, TMJ, insomnia, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel and frozen shoulder. Some see sessions as opportunities for regularly scheduled deep meditation time for generalized stress reduction and systemic recuperation. Elderly folks dealing with mild osteoporosis, mobility and coordination issues benefit greatly from regular ZB as do people who are rehabilitating injuries or seeking holistic support for ongoing medical interventions (e.g., IVF, cancer treatment) or palliative care.

2. MIND: Psycho-emotional support and embodied trauma processing. I’ve helped clients identify and work with root issues enabling them to shift long-standing patterns of depression, anxiety, control, grief, shame and self-limiting beliefs. ZB also provides support and insights for people’s addiction and trauma recovery processes. Because it’s best to include the body in talk therapy, many clients tell me their therapists remind them when it’s time to come see me for another ZB.

3. SPIRIT: Personal growth/spiritual connection and creative inspiration. During ZB sessions, clients and I set an intention (called a frame) for how they’d like to feel. Throughout sessions, I provide nonjudgmental feedback as a lens into the ways our conditioned behaviors can live in the body effecting our desires, moods and even our capacity for imagination and creative expression. For many, regular ZB sessions lead to new insights and ways of seeing, creative problem solving, a sense of clarity and direction and increased physical and emotional awareness. Sessions can also renew access to curiosity and joy and support the establishment of a sacred connection to nature, intuition and life’s synchronicities.
